Training At Home
As we all are probably aware becoming a professional takes more then talent. It takes motivation, desire and discipline to get there and to be great once your there takes even more.
Training at home when we are away from the training field and the coach will make the difference and those who have done it can tell you the benefits of it. Some may be able to tell you out the window of their Ferrari as they pull out of a premiership training ground.
As a coach in an Academy I always stressed the importance of continuous work at home and that being part of an academy is more then 3 or 4 sessions a week it is a full time, 24/7 thing.
With that philosophy in place I had to then consider the training program and the content and it was whilst doing that that it dawned on me.
Regardless of the philosophy and training program why do I include practices in my sessions that the goalkeepers could do at home with out coaching and guidance.
Contact time is minimal in coaching sessions so incorporating the practices that are most effective is crucial so in basic terms if a drill or practice needs no guidance then why do it in a coached session?
Essentially, needs no guidance means there are no technical aspects that need coaching and it is a basic and effective challenge based drill with high reps.
The videos in this section of the site can all be done at home or at the park in fact any space that allows footballs in it.

All the drills are simple, enjoyable and involve a challenge where you set the target in terms of reps or successful reps.
So use them when you can, enjoy them and keep getting better
